U.S. Postal Service Considers Cutting Mail Delivery By One Day

Earlier today the the 235 year old U.S. Postal Service announced  that it is considering some major changes.  The changes have come due to “unprecedented volume declines” says Postmaster John Potter. A reported $238 billion decline is expected within the next 10 years if changes aren’t made.

Some of the changes that Postmaster John Potter is proposing:

  • Change mail delivery from 6 days to 5 days, which will result in eliminating Saturday service
  • Reduce the size of the workforce
  • Increase in stamp prices in 2011
