Finally Tiger Woods speaks out to the public about his selfish and irresponsible behavior. In front of close family and friends Tiger apologized for cheating on his wife with multiple women. Standing at a podium in front of close family, friends and a few members of media, Woods read a letter apologizing for his actions. “I have made you question who I am and how I could have done the things I did,” Woods said. He addressed his multiple infidelities, the night of the car crash and rumors of his wife hitting him. He seemed very sincere and looked very worn out. Although he spoke directly from what seemed to be a corporate letter, he seemed to be speaking from the heart. “It’s now up to me to make amends, and that starts by never repeating the mistakes I’ve made,” Wood said.
Personally I think that what Tiger Woods did was wrong in more ways that I can even begin to express but I also think that he is human and part of being human is making mistakes and learning from them. We all know that what he did was wrong but that doesn’t give us the right to judge him. I think that he did the right thing by doing a press conference and apologizing, simply because there are a lot of kids that look up to him. He needed to do that to show them that what he did was not okay and that he feels bad about it. Other than that, I think that he and his family have suffered enough. This is truly a personal matter and I think that regardless of how famous he is, he should be able to work this out privately without everyone making it worse than what it obviously is.
I think it is extremely sad that his wife has had to endure all of this with the entire world watching her. Just dealing with the fact that her husband cheated on her with multiple woman is hard enough but having to deal with the whole world knowing is something that I can’t even imagine. Whether she decides to stay with Tiger or divorces him, she has to deal with this for a long time. People are so quick to say that she should leave him but none of us really knows what she is going through. A lot of women have been cheated on but not many have gone through it in the way that she has. Her not showing up for the press conference was not a surprise to me…she needs this time to to figure out what is best for her and her family.
As for the other women involved, I think that they need to get over it and move on with their lives. They all knew that he was married and had children but they made the decision to sleep with him. I do feel a little bad for them because they were naive enough to believe what he told them. I just hope that they learn from their mistakes as well.
None of us have no way of knowing if Tiger really feels bad for his mistakes or if he is using this to make himself look better.However, it is obvious that whether he has learned from this or not, he is paying for this in so many ways. If he hasn’t…maybe marriage isn’t thing for him. If he has…good for him. For every action there are consequences and everyone should focus more on that aspect of this story than anything else.
