The October issue of XXl Magazine is covered be none other than Kanye West titled “Love” and “Hate”. Of course, in true Kanye fashion his cover story is far from the norm, his 40 page section in the magazine consist of a first person narrative in which  he opens up about his mother’s death and the how the Taylor Swift incident changed him.

On his Mother’s Death

When I moved to LA, she moved to LA/ And she wound up in a place that would eat her alive. Even if I stayed in New York, it wouldn’t have been like that. If I had lived in New York, she’d still be here.”
On the Taylor Swift Incident

“In a way, I had thrown a Molotov cocktail at my own career, and it gave me an opportunity, for the first time, to go away and find out who I was,” he wrote. “Because I felt very alone.

“I stress that the incident wasn’t about Taylor personally, And it definitely wasn’t about race. Where I messed up is , at the end of the day, it’s your show, Taylor. It’s your show, MTV.”

On apologizing

“The relationship with the public and with your fans is like the relationship with your girlfriend. How could I not, at a certain point, be like, ‘I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have been at the awards show. I’m sorry’? Not that I don’t deserve to get beat up or change who I am inside, to make sure that that doesn’t happen again.

On bouncing back

“I knew I wasn’t in a great spot publicly after the incident, but I would just block it out and work as hard as possible and let my work be my saving grace.”

Shaunie O’neal Steps Out With Her New Man

Wife of Shaquille Oneal, Shaunie  was spotted at an event with her new man Marlon Yates. Her divorce with Shaq is not yet finalized but from the looks of it…she is having no problem moving on. Yates is a 23 year old model from Los Angeles. He was featured in Keri Hilson’s video for the song “Slow Dance.” Reportedly the two met last November through mutual friends and have been inseparable ever since. There have been several photos of the couple released but this is the first time that they have walked the red carpet together. So… I guess it’s safe to say that they are getting a bit more serious.

Mrs. O’neal may still be technically married but she is  definitely going through with divorce procedures and  if she is happy with her new man… that’s what matters. It’s obvious that the her marriage with Shaq is already over, now all she needs is to get it on paper. Let’s hope that all of that happens sooner than later, since she has decided to date and take on another relationship. The age difference is what it is…it’s 2010 and older women dating younger men does not surprise me anymore.

“We Are The World”: Hit Or Miss?

I’m sure a lot of you remember the original “We Are The World” recorded in 1985 for African famine… well now Quincy Jones and Lionel Richie have gathered a new group of celebrities to record for the songs 25th anniversary to benefit the Haiti Relief Fund.  The original that was written by Micheal Jackson and Lionel Richie made more than $63 million.

While I am sure that this will bring money to the Haiti Relief fund, I just don”t understand why anyone would remake something that had such a specific purpose and  relationship to something else. The original “We Are The World” is a classic and to have a whole new group of artist  come with a remake is kind of corny and boring, to say the least. I do understand that it is for a good cause  and I think that it will generate money for that reason and that reason only.

I’m just trying to figure out why someone didn’t come up with something new and original. All I’m saying is “We Are The World” has already been done.  I’m sure that a lot of celebrities signed on to feel like they are contributing in some way but I hope that they are considering the other ways that they can contribute  that have more to do with digging in their own pockets and putting on gloves  than singing.

With that being said…regardless of how how corny it may be I truly hope that the “We Are The World 2010″ raises lots of money so that the cleaning and reconstruction of Haiti can finally begin. I pray that months from now this will still be relevant and everyone will continue to donate and come together to help the people of Haiti through their devastation.
