Recently rapper Nicki Minaj did an interview with Honey Magazine to talk about her new album Pink Friday, scheduled to hit stores Nov. 23rd.  In the interview she explains that she thought about pushing her album release date because she didn’t think that she had a big enough fan base.

Hmmm… let’s calculate this:

Over A Million Twitter Fans + Featured On 11 Records That Made It To The Billboard Charts+ BET and MTV Award Nominations = A Big Enough Fan Base. Not to mention, she did all of this with no album released.

Here’s what she had to say:

“People act like I have this really big buzz but I don’t really see it. To be honest, it’s not as big to me as people act like it is. I have to do so much work to promote – more work than other people because people expect me to lose. They think I’m one-dimensional a lot of times…I don’t think people see me as a musician, they see me more as a character and sometimes that is not a good thing. A lot of artists say they want my buzz but I don’t think that buzz is directly related to my music. I think once that album comes out, you guys will understand me as a musician”.

Well, I can honestly say that I am a huge Nicki Minaj fan and I haven’t come across many people that don’t like her music. Even some of the hardcore Lil’ Kim fans can’t help but give her props, despite the so-called “beef” between the two. I don’t know how she can’t see that she’s a big deal but I’m pretty sure that any doubts will be gone after her album drops in November.

I must say that I loved Nicki Minaj’s acceptance speech at the BET Award. Although it’s obvious that her words were directed to Lil’ Kim, she could have easily taken another route. I’m lovin the positivity!

“Thank you to Queen Latifah because you know what, earlier we were rehearsing and she gave me so much positive energy. I think it’s so important right now for positive energy among women because I’m fighting for women. This is not for me, this is for all of us!!! So thank you all the female rappers that paved the way for me. Thank you Deb. I see you baby! Let’s go

Diddy Comments on Lil’ Kim Beef And Lil’ Kim Addresses Drake

While at the Tim Westwood show with group Dirty Money Diddy had an opportunity to address the Lil’ Kim beef. Below is what Diddy had to say:

“I want to say I love Lil Kim man and I’m sorry that she’s mad. I never would have thought by me working with another artist that she would take it the wrong way but if she’s taking it the wrong way, it ain’t meant like that. Nicki has never did anything to her. She ain’t never not pay her homage. She ain’t swagger jack and say nothing negative about her. I think Kim needs to understand that Nicki as a whole, it’s always been respect. Nicki isn’t trying to be her. We still riding with Nicki and we still riding with Kim. We love and respect the days in history that we’ve had with Lil Kim but Kim is going to be an emcee. When emcees come back out, they talk crazy and do what they do but at the end of the day everyone respects Kim for being the Queen B.”

“That love ain’t going to never change, no matter what she say or feel. I’m always going to remember the good times and I’m not going to make any apologies for working with Nicki Minaj. Especially for someone that has never said anything negative about Lil Kim and who has always, in my eyes, paid homage to Lil Kim. She’s a different emcee. They don’t even talk about the same thing. What Kim has talked about and what Nicki has talked about, they don’t talk about the same things. Anybody that comes after Kim, or me, or Jay or whatever, people get inspired. It’s nothing wrong with her being inspired as long as she takes that inspiration and carves out her own lane. If we do ever manage her, we’ll make sure she carves out that own lane.”

“Nicki is Nicki, and Kim is Kim. Case closed. We’ll see how far that gets. When you go in that lane, that don’t never win.”

Meanwhile Lil’ Kim had this to day about Drake in an interview with thisis50.com:

I really liked Drake. I use to like him but for him to have the audacity to disrespect me. This n*gga gonna f*cking shout me out when Ray J is the one that said it. How b*tchy do you look right now. You look like a straight p*ssy, P*ssy! Cause you came at me and I am a f*cking female!

Lil’ Kim Has A New Job

Looks like Lil’ Kim has been doing more than talking trash about Nicki Minaj, recently the rapper has been named the new spokesperson for Three Olives Vodka, the newest edition to Vodka’s 18 signature flavors. YRB had an opportunity to speak with Lil’ Kim at her Three OlivesVodka photo shoot and this is what she had to say:

On how she became the Spokesperson for Three Olives
[Three Olives] built the campaign around me, which I thought was really great. That was really awesome. I was really honored. I was amazed they even thought of me. That was [number] one. A lot of times my management finds things, but I would say 90% out of 100%, these things come to me. I’m blessed.

Lil Kim on if she knew she’d one day be a brand
Well, I always knew that I was different. I always knew that I wasn’t going to come into the industry and just be labeled as a “female rapper.” I never even saw myself as just a female rapper, because I know that one thing I do very well is entertain. My mama always told me that, ever since I was a little girl. I would put on her shoes and put on her lipstick and stand in front of the mirror with my brush singing. I always knew that when I came into the industry I would elevate. I didn’t know a lot of the things that came to me would come. I thank God for it; I feel blessed. I can only be myself and do what I do the best. So yeah if that means something as wonderful and gracious as Three Olives Vodka comes my way, I’m gonna jump on it because that’s the direction I want to go in. I want to be universal, and that’s the one thing I feel also about Three Olives vodka is that everyone can enjoy it.

On her new book
I have my new book; it’s called The Price Of Loyalty – how ironic, right? It’s with St. Martin’s Press. We want to launch everything together so the fans have something to continuously pick up. It tells a story. A lot of times my story gets cut short [laughs]

Below are pics from her photo shoot:

Wow! Can we say…coke bottle?
