Dallas Cowboy’s rookie Dez Bryant has caused a stir already. He hasn’t even spent a week in training camp and already he has started a bit of a controversy. Apparently the no.1 draft pick has refused to carry teammate Roy Williams’ shoulder pads in a little rookie hazing. Bryant recently signed a five year deal worth $11.8 million with the Cowboy’s.

When asked why he wouldn’t participate he said, “I’m not doing it,” he explained, ” I feel like I was drafted to play football, not carry another player’s pads.”

Roy Williams didn’t agree with Bryant and says that he had to go through similar hazing as a rookie. He said ” Everybody has to go through it,” he added “I had to go through it. No matter if you’re a no.1 pick ot the 7,000th, you’ve still got to do something when you’re a rookie.”

*SN* Shoe and Clothing Apparel company ‘Under Armour’  has dropped Bryant. According to CNBC It has everything to do with the fact that Bryant — less than a month after being drafted 24th overall — hit Cowboys OTAs in Nike shoes and gloves, and has been wearing the brand ever since. However, Nike spokesman Kejuan Wilkins has confirmed that the Cowboy’s rookie is not at all endorsed by Nike.

“We Are The World”: Hit Or Miss?

I’m sure a lot of you remember the original “We Are The World” recorded in 1985 for African famine… well now Quincy Jones and Lionel Richie have gathered a new group of celebrities to record for the songs 25th anniversary to benefit the Haiti Relief Fund.  The original that was written by Micheal Jackson and Lionel Richie made more than $63 million.

While I am sure that this will bring money to the Haiti Relief fund, I just don”t understand why anyone would remake something that had such a specific purpose and  relationship to something else. The original “We Are The World” is a classic and to have a whole new group of artist  come with a remake is kind of corny and boring, to say the least. I do understand that it is for a good cause  and I think that it will generate money for that reason and that reason only.

I’m just trying to figure out why someone didn’t come up with something new and original. All I’m saying is “We Are The World” has already been done.  I’m sure that a lot of celebrities signed on to feel like they are contributing in some way but I hope that they are considering the other ways that they can contribute  that have more to do with digging in their own pockets and putting on gloves  than singing.

With that being said…regardless of how how corny it may be I truly hope that the “We Are The World 2010″ raises lots of money so that the cleaning and reconstruction of Haiti can finally begin. I pray that months from now this will still be relevant and everyone will continue to donate and come together to help the people of Haiti through their devastation.
