Another hip hop legend has left us Monday night. Guru, 1 half of hip hop pioneers Gang Starr, died at age 43. The rapper has been suffering from Cancer for over a year.
Just a month ago the emcee, who’s real name is Keith Elam, went into a coma following a heart attack, and his illness became public. Guru’s name stood for Gifted Universal Rhymes Unlimited and he formed Gang Starr with DJ Premier in 1985. The group delivered 6 albums and had a huge devoted following because of their true devotion to a pure hip hop sound. Never watered down or gimmicky, groups like this are rare these days and this great man will be truly missed. R.I.P.
