BEIJING - AUGUST 14: Lebron James of the USA reacts during the Men's Preliminary Round Group B basketball game against Greece at the Olympic Basketball Gymnasium during day 6 of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games on August 14, 2008 in Beijing, China. (Photo by Jeff Gross/Getty Images)

During the Olympics in 2008 there was a crazy rumor spreading. The rumor was that Dwyane Wade, LeBron James and Chris Bosh had made a secret pact, a pact to be teammates after the 2009-2010 season. The plan was to go to the Knicks, who were thought to be the team able to clear cap space, and build a dynasty as the new “Big 3” and rule the basketball world in a most dominate way that Pinky and the Brain would drool over.  But this was thought to be a pie in the sky, boys in a clubhouse kind of pact.

Fast forward 2 years and change the team from the Knick to the Heat and the “Big 3” has actually come to be. Could there REALLY have been a secret pact? That would seem to be a little far-fetched. If it is a true scenario though, then why go through the whole recruiting process and give teams false hopes? Why not just tell everyone that you guys are good friends and want to play together?

Will this be a super team with no role players? That is to be seen. But what is known is that there are 3 players which could average 75 points per night on their own and pass the ball with accuracy and draw fouls all night long. This will be a nightmare to defend against, that is until the bench comes onto the floor.

I’m not totally sold on the rumor that the guys made a pact in 2008 because they loved playing together so much on the Olympic team. I am sold that this might be the best 3 players to ever suit up together for a team that doesn’t represent an entire country. But if the rumor is true then New Orleans better watch out, because there was a 4th member to “the pact” and Chris Paul could be running point in Miami in 2012. That could be the NBA apocalypse.

The announcement was made this evening that Carlos Boozer is the newest player to be added to the Chicago Bulls roster. According to chicagotribune.com the 28-year-old signed a 5-year $76 million contract with the Bulls.

With Lebron James scheduled to annouce his decision tomorrow night, I can only assume that adding Boozer the night before was a strategic attempt to take away any doubts that the 25-year-old NBA superstar may have about Chicago. Adding Boozer who averaged 20.5 points and 11.2 rebounds for Utah last season to a team that already consist of outstanding players like Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah could unquestionably up the ante.

Chicago would be tempting to many but to someone like Lebron James who has such a wide variety of choices, this will undoubtly be a hard decision to make. Other great teams like the New York Knicks who recently added Amar’e Stoudemire, the Nets with young and talented players like Devin Harris and Brook Lopez, Miami who welcomed the return of Dwayne Wade and Cleveland who lead the league in wins all hope to add Lebron James to their roster. It will defintely be interesting to see what team King James will choose.
