In a recent interview with Barbara Walters, oscar- nominated actress/ comedian Mo’Nique admitted to having an open relationship with husband Sidney Hicks. She insist that she has yet to have had sex outside of her marriage but she would not be upset if her husband did. She says ” Could Sid have sex outside of his marriage with me? Yes. That’s not a dealbreaker”.  She adds ” What if it’s 20 times? So what?” She also goes on to tell some of the things that she does to keep her husband, which includs not shaving her legs. Wow!

First of all, I am not here to judge but I do have a right to my own opinion and…guess what? I am very opinionated. Second, I am a fan of Mo’Nique and her home life has nothing to do with her as a perfomer so at the end of day I still enjoy her and I think that she is extremely talented. 

I don’t think that I will ever understand how anyone could seriously have a marriage that’s “open”. When you stand at the alter and say ” I do”,  don’t you  agree to love, honor and obey your spouse? Not your spouse  and another person or 20 other people. What’s the point in marrying someone if you feel like there is a possibility that you may want to have sex with someone else? Maybe it’s just me…but I just don’t get it.

Now to be fair… I will say some people get married and later down the line doubt their marriage or give in temptation and cheat or have an affair. However,  saying that you agree to have an “open marriage” is different. To say that you wouldn’t mind if your husband or wife cheats is a little strange too me. That doesn’t sound like a marriage to me…sounds more like friends with benefits.
