I’ve never lost a parent, a friend, or a lover but I will never forget this day for the rest of my life. I remember getting the news that you had passed and it connected with my heart like a clean shot from Muhammad Ali. I was crushed. Not only was I one of your biggest fans but I was truly in love with you. I loved the way you carried yourself, the way you dressed, the confidence with which you addressed passion and relationships in your music. I said to myself that even if we never met, I wanted a woman in my life just like you. I am pained that we will never get to connect now that music ended up being my career path. But you should know, we all listen to you everyday and we remain inspired and moved by all that you’ve given the world. I hope I make the right life choices so I can end up in heaven where I know you rest your head. I’ll continue to make music in your honor until the day we finally meet. Dinner’s on me!

Nicki Minaj Doesn’t Think She’s A Big Deal?
Recently rapper Nicki Minaj did an interview with Honey Magazine to talk about her new album Pink Friday, scheduled to hit stores Nov. 23rd. In the interview she explains that she thought about pushing her album release date because she didn’t think that she had a big enough fan base.
Hmmm… let’s calculate this:
Over A Million Twitter Fans + Featured On 11 Records That Made It To The Billboard Charts+ BET and MTV Award Nominations = A Big Enough Fan Base. Not to mention, she did all of this with no album released.
Here’s what she had to say:
“People act like I have this really big buzz but I don’t really see it. To be honest, it’s not as big to me as people act like it is. I have to do so much work to promote – more work than other people because people expect me to lose. They think I’m one-dimensional a lot of times…I don’t think people see me as a musician, they see me more as a character and sometimes that is not a good thing. A lot of artists say they want my buzz but I don’t think that buzz is directly related to my music. I think once that album comes out, you guys will understand me as a musician”.
Well, I can honestly say that I am a huge Nicki Minaj fan and I haven’t come across many people that don’t like her music. Even some of the hardcore Lil’ Kim fans can’t help but give her props, despite the so-called “beef” between the two. I don’t know how she can’t see that she’s a big deal but I’m pretty sure that any doubts will be gone after her album drops in November.

R&B Singer Faith Evans Arrested For Suspicion of Driving Drunk
Over the weekend R&B singer Faith Evans was arrested for suspicion of drunk driving on the way to the set of her new music video. According to police, the 37-year-old showed signs of being under the influence and was pulled over at a checkpoint. The grammy award winner was held for four hours but was released pending formal charges. In 2004 Evans spent 13 weeks in rehab after being arrested and charged with with possession of cocaine and marijuana.
Faith took the time to tweet that she is fine and her music video is still to come:
“Hi Faithfuls…I am on the set of my new video for my single Gone Already,” she wrote. “I’m sure by now most of you heard that I was detained on suspicion of a DUI.
“After completing a full day of wardrobe prep I was stopped at a random checkpoint. I’m fine and well, and thank you for your prayers, kind words and concerns. I can’t wait for you all to see my new video & look forward to hearing from u guys…Fizz.”

Kandi Opens Up About Jermaine Dupri & The Dismantle of Xscape
I don’t know about you but back in the day I was a huge fan of the girl group Xscape and when they broke up I was so hurt. I remember hearing the rumors behind their break-up and being so disappointed…. thinking to myself “not another great group broken up because of drama”. According to former member of Xscape Tameka, Kandi was the culprit responsible for the dismantle of the group. A few years ago, Tameka went on Hot97 and said that Kandi slept with producer Jermaine Dupri and that’s when things begin to take a turn for the worst.
Recently during an interview with radio host Angela Yee, Kandi decided to finally open up about being involved with Jermaine Dupri and how she felt about Tameka blasting her on the the radio.

“But just like anybody, sometimes you can work with people and you be like, hmm I wonder how he is in the bedroom, you know, and you just try it out… we hung out, we was friends, like playing pool, talking trash and then you know you hear somebody say yeah I’m a beast, I’m this, I’m that, you know how you can be around your friends talking about sex or whatever and then you be thinking like, I wonder is it that good, you know? Let’s be realistic, it wasn’t me trying to get anything out of the situation. We already had hit records. We already had hits. It wasn’t like I was trying to do it to get somewhere. It was just out of curiosity.”
On her reaction to Tameka Scott blasting her on the radio
When she did that it was really kinda foul to me and that’s really the reason why I would never go back to the group because when somebody just straight lies…and then she tried to add some whole other stuff that was totally false. When I had talked to her after it happened and she called to apologize to me, I said you know what, you call and apologizing to me but you went on radio in NY to say this about me so everything that you put out there, nobody knows you apologizing right now. Apologize publicly if you want me to take this seriously. Don’t say it to me after you done put all this craziness out there about me.”
Hmmmm…honestly I don’t think that Jermaine Dupri would be someone that I would be curious about…but hey whatever floats your boat. I’m surprised that she didn’t just deny the incident all together. On the other hand, I don’t know… I’ve never met the man and I’m thinking if he got Janet Jackson maybe there is something about him when you meet him in person that makes the physical disappear. Whatever it is, it broke up a group at the height of their career…now that’s a mess!
