Erykah Badu performs in concert in Miami

For those of you that haven’t heard, singer Erykah Badu caused quite an uproar after stripping naked while filming the video for her song “Window Seat.” Reportedly police encouraged witnesses to complain so that she would be charged. If no complaints were made Badu could have walked away without suffering any real repercussions. However, one witnessed decided to complain stating that the singer offended her and her two small children.

As a result, Badu has been charged with a misdemeanor. Badu has plead not guilty and instead of paying the $5oo fine, she plans to fight the charge.

I agree that filming a video naked in the middle of the day is a bit inappropriate. However, if no complaints were made I don’t think that the police should have stepped in to try coax witnesses to complain. That makes them look a little suspicious. What was the purpose? So that she could pay a $500 fine? She just might have that  in her back pocket. I’m just saying…Couldn’t they have found something better to do? I watch the First 48 and I have a feeling that they should have been trying to patrolling the streets instead of picking on Ms. Badu.

13th Annual 2009 ACE Awards Presented by the Accessories Council - Arrivals

For some reason everyone  has been comparing Christina Aguilera to Lady GaGa lately. Seriously?  I think that  Christina Aguilera and Lady GaGa are two very different types of artist and that comparison is like comparing ice cream to  pickles. I’m just not sure where it’s coming from. Christina could undoubtedly blow Gaga out of the water vocally so there is definitely no comparison there. As far as style…well we all know that no one does it quite like Gaga.  Am I missing something?

I will admit that the catsuit is a little Lady GaGa-ish and the mohawk is a little Rihanna-ish  but that just makes me think that Christina needs to  comeback a little more original.  She just might be trying a little  too hard. Maybe she just needs to stop focusing so much on strategies to fit in and just give her fans what we have always loved about her…her voice.

Curtis Young aka Hood Surgeon, son of the legendary Dr. Dre is following in his father’s footsteps and launching his own recording label, Young Entertainment Inc. Young refers to his music as a “new era of positive feel good music for the West Coast.” He plans to release his debut solo album Product of My DNA this Summer  off of his record label. Young has already been on several mixtapes, including Family Tree Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, Son of A Doctor and Billionaire Dreams.

Young tells AllHipHop,  “My world became complete when I finally met my father at the age of 21,” he adds,  “I am extremely grateful for my father paving the road for me and many other artists. I feel privileged to have the opportunity to take over a legacy. As a producer, my father has set extremely high standards to existing and upcoming producers all over the globe but my hard and dedicated work will show everyone that I deserve the name Young.”

Young’ s album will be surprisingly personal, he shares how he met his father Dr. Dre and gives details about their relationship.

“For my debut album, you can expect to learn about the making of Curtis Young,” Young promised. “The story of actually becoming a product of society. People can expect to hear the true meaning of ‘Product Of My DNA’ that will let people know who Curtis Young is and how I learned about my father, Dr. Dre.”
