For those of you that haven’t heard, singer Erykah Badu caused quite an uproar after stripping naked while filming the video for her song “Window Seat.” Reportedly police encouraged witnesses to complain so that she would be charged. If no complaints were made Badu could have walked away without suffering any real repercussions. However, one witnessed decided to complain stating that the singer offended her and her two small children.
As a result, Badu has been charged with a misdemeanor. Badu has plead not guilty and instead of paying the $5oo fine, she plans to fight the charge.
I agree that filming a video naked in the middle of the day is a bit inappropriate. However, if no complaints were made I don’t think that the police should have stepped in to try coax witnesses to complain. That makes them look a little suspicious. What was the purpose? So that she could pay a $500 fine? She just might have that in her back pocket. I’m just saying…Couldn’t they have found something better to do? I watch the First 48 and I have a feeling that they should have been trying to patrolling the streets instead of picking on Ms. Badu.
