While the birthplace of hip hop my have played the background for a few minutes, it is now back thanks to songs like “Empire State” by Jay-Z and now with Akons new joint “New York City.” But this is no hip hop anthem. This one is more for the dance clubs with it’s steady beat and Akons always smooth vocals. Move somethin!

Timbo is a legendary songwriter and producer, but has also been known to lend his laid back vocals to several hit records as well. This one features fellow partner in crime Missy Elliot and auto tune extraordinaire T-Pain. It’s not hard to figure out what this song is about, just look at the title.

Whether you like it or not Drake is part of the new sound in hip hop. Singing and rhyming, the Toronto native is back with a song that seems to be more like a letter to a past love of his. The young spitter is giving her a play by play and showing her what she could’ve had if things would’ve worked out. Oh well, life goes on.
